04/06/2001
CHICAGO -- The Illinois Humanities Council is pleased to announce that IHC scholar Tom Teague has been named as the Director of the Illinois State Historical Society. Mr. Teague is a member of the Illinois Humanities Council’s Road Scholars Speakers Bureau. The Road Scholars program makes high-quality public programs available to non-profit organizations free of charge. This program places humanities scholars like Mr. Teague in diverse communities throughout the state where they give presentations on a wide variety of topics.
The Illinois Humanities Council’s hugely successful Road Scholars Speakers Bureau reached approximately 10,000 people in 117 Illinois communities last year alone. Because projections for 2001 indicate a similar growth of interest, a new catalog is being published with 39 speakers offering 71 programs. Author of Searching for Route 66, Mr. Teague will offer two programs devoted to the past, present, and future of Route 66.
