ILLINOIS HUMANITIES COUNCIL CONDUCTS FALL BOARD MEETING AT THE INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM OF SURGICAL SCIENCE

CHICAGO - The Illinois Humanities Council (IHC) Board of Directors will hold its Fall Board meeting at the International Museum of Surgical Science (1524 N. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago) on Friday, September 24, 2004. The Board will convene at 9:00am in the "Hall of Immortals" on the second floor of the Museum. Items on the agenda for this meeting include a discussion of the FY2005 budget, a review of major grant proposals, and the confirmation of new board members.

In addition, IHC board and staff will have the opportunity to tour the Museum’s 22 galleries. The Museum’s holdings of historical surgical instruments are displayed according to national origin or surgical specialty. Current special exhibits include a 19th century apothecary shop and a "Polio Room" which chronicles the history of this devastating disease and includes a rare functioning iron lung.
