THE ILLINOIS HUMANITIES COUNCIL WELCOMES NEW STAFF MEMBER

07/20/2006

Lindsay Atnip – General Office Administrator

CHICAGO -- The IHC is pleased to announce the appointment of Lindsay Atnip as its General Office Administrator as of July 10, 2006. Ms. Atnip will act as the first point of contact for inquiries about the IHC, its grants, programs, and office operations. She will also assist in general administration of the office and in managing and updating the IHC database.

"There is so much competition for our leisure time today that it is not enough just to conduct excellent public humanities programs. We also need to maintain vital information about the programs in order to track their success and build audiences," said Executive Director Kristina A. Valaitis in announcing Ms. Atnip’s appointment. "Ms Atnip will help us improve our organizational systems at the Council."

Ms. Atnip earned her B.A. in Economics from the University of Chicago in 2005. Before coming to the IHC, she worked as a Business Analyst at DiamondCluster, Inc. She also served as a volunteer tutor in the IHC's Odyssey Project, a year-long classics based course in the humanities for low-income adults. In her spare time she reads Nietzsche and plays the piano.
